A flash of wonder

Standing in the stillness of an early summer night I look upward into the dark sky. I see the distant light of a satellite as it orbits. I recall a moment years before when someone took a group of teachers (including myself) outside to see the flash of another satellite as it suddenly caught the rays of the sun that had set about an hour before. I do not expect the flash this time, but I remain focused on the traveling dot and hope. Then it happens... I am amazed by the synchronicity of the event. I am thankful to have experienced this again. I hope to share many such moments with my daughter as she grows and learns...
